The Secret of Synchronization

How does order spontaneously arise out of chaos? This video is sponsored by Kiwico - go to for 50% off your first month of any crate.
An enormous thanks to Prof. Steven Strogatz - this video would not have been possible without him. Much of the script-writing was inspired and informed by his wonderful book Sync, and his 2004 TED talk. He is a giant in this field, and has literally written the book on chaos, complexity, and synchronization. It was hard to find a paper in this field that Steven (or one of his students) didn't contribute to. His Podcast "The Joy of X" is wonderful - please listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts

Do you know where you would go if you died today? Heaven or hell? Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven (John 14.6). Simply by believing in Jesus and what he did at the cross to pay for all of our sins, past, present and future, you can be guaranteed eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬. He’s waiting, please don’t delay 💙

Oh those waves are sometimes what I see in the dark when I close my eyes. "See" might be a bit extreme. It's more like the sensation of visual outlines. Since bright is so much brighter than dark (like logarithmic), I figure it'seurons in the new "absence "of stimulation.

the synchornised clap in audience is (most time, or always) on purpose, audience voluntarly recognizes when certain volume of the claps becomes (even a bit) synchronized, so they all "tune in". I've been many times part of it, well, I grew up with it. It comes at the end of the concert and it just feels nicer (when aplause last quite a while) to be synchronized than to be random noise. It is sort of message " we all agree this was truly great, so we aplaud to you in sync"

    29. Odin Sørensen

"We have to go back three-hundred and-" No you don't! Why do video essayist keep saying this?

I've always thought this was the explanation for Carl Jung's Synchronicities, the 'Acausal connecting phenomenon'. Self fulfilling prophecies and psychomotor effects show how the mind can bleed into physical reality. On larger scales perhaps even spookier 'coincidences' can occur. I don't want people to think that 'Magic is real' by any means. But perhaps its just the tiniest bit realer than we think.

Back in the 80s, My friends and I went to a concert at a very old venue in Boston, MA called the Orpheum. We were in the balcony, and it was sold out and very crowded. As Depeche Mode played their electronic music and people were bouncing in the balcony, the balcony started to shake, and as the bouncing and dancing continued, the structure became more violent. It wasnt until Orpheum officials came onto the balcony and tried to persuade us to stop dancing, did it stop. I was panicking and honestly thought the whole thing was going to collapse... Being high on pot at the time seemed to amplify my anxiety.
